Prophetic duas for hardships and trials

I have shared some powerful duas with you below that you can include in your daily morning and evening routine. These prayers are truly life-changing, and now I can’t imagine my life without them. Sometimes I regret not having found these duas earlier, but my heart also feels at peace knowing I have taught them to my children and told them about their importance so they can make these duas a part of their lives before me. Alhamdulillah.

Dua:1

Reciting this Dua helps us to protect ourselves from disappointment, sadness, worry, laziness, and weak faith. I recite this dua every day, but sometimes I forget. This is a different matter. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) himself used to recite this dua repeatedly, and the Companions (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also heard him (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) repeat it.

I especially like to recite this dua when I am in financial difficulties, or when I am suffering from mental stress or sadness, or when I want to strengthen my faith, or when someone does not treat me well. I have seen many benefits of this dua in my life, so it is one of my favorite prayers.

اللهُم إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ الْهَمِّ وَالْحُزْنِ وَالْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ وَالْبُخْلِ وَالْجُبْنِ وَضَلَعِ الدَّيْلَبَلِنِ وَضَلَعِ الدَّيْلِنِ.

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and sorrow, weakness and laziness, stinginess and cowardice, the burden of debt, and the domination of people. (Bukhari)

Dua:2

Reciting this dua, along with Dua Number 1, gives us great benefit in matters such as debt, financial pressure, and job loss. Whenever we have money problems, our hearts are restless and worried about where the money will come from. By reciting this dua, Allah removes our problems.

اللّهُـمَّ اكْفِـني بِحَلالِـكَ عَنْ حَـرامِـك، وَأَغْنِـني بِفَضْـلِكَ عَمَّـنْ سِـواك

O Allah, make what You have made lawful sufficient for me in place of what You have made unlawful, and make me independent of all others except You. (Tirmidhi)

Dua:3

This supplication is for those who are suffering from many troubles. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also advised his daughter Fatima (may Allah be pleased with her) to recite this supplication in the morning and evening.

By repeating this supplication, we are due to Allah (swt) not to leave us to anyone else but to leave us to Himself because we trust in Him and He will fix all our matters. This supplication appeals to Allah (swt) not to leave them alone, be with them. Whenever any trouble befalls us, we should trust in Allah’s mercy, and He will remove all our problems.

الله رَحْمَتَكَ أَرْجُو فَلَا تَكِلْنِي إِلَى نَفْسِي طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ وَأَصْلِحْ لِي شَأْني كُلَّهُ لَا إِلَه إِلَهُ

O Allah, I hope for Your mercy; do not leave me in my own condition, even for the blink of an eye. Correct all my affairs; there is none worthy of worship except You.

Dua:4

By reciting this prayer, our Lord removes all our difficulties. I like repeating this prayer because it helps me in the daily difficult tasks of being a parent. This prayer also helps me in fulfilling countless responsibilities and tasks every day. This prayer gives me peace and courage to handle all my tasks.

الله لا سَهْل إلا ما جَعْتَهُ سَهْلا وَأنتَ تَجْعَلُ الحَزْنَ إذا شِئْتَ سَهْلا

O Allah! There is no ease except that which You make easy, and indeed, You make easy the difficult when You will. (Sahih Ibn Hibban)

Dua:5

The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to recite this supplication whenever he was faced with a calamity. I love this supplication because it confirms my belief that only Allah is responsible, and the actions of others are permitted only by His will. By reciting this supplication, Allah removes all our difficulties.

لا إلهَ إلا اللهُ العَليمُ الحَليم لا إلهَ إلا اللهُ ربُّ العَرْشِ العَظِيْم لا إلهَ إلا اللهُ ربُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَرَبُّ الأَرْضِ ربُّ العَرْشِ الكَرِيْم

There is no god but Allah, the All-Knowing, the All-Forbearing. There is no god but Allah, Lord of the Great Throne. There is no god but Allah, Lord of the heavens and the earth and the Lord of the Great Throne. (Bukhari)

Dua:6

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 

“There is no one who says every morning and every evening: In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing in the heavens or the earth can harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing, but nothing can harm Him.” (Abu Dawud)

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي لاَ يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَىْءٌ فِي الأَرْضِ وَلاَ فِي السَّمَاءِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ

In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing in the heavens or the earth can harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.

Dua:7

This dua tells us to trust only in Allah in our difficult times because He is the one who can remove all difficulties, and the power to do so is in His hands. This prayer also strengthens our hearts.

حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ لَآ إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَهُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ

Allah is sufficient for me; there is none worthy of worship except Him, in Him I have put my trust, and He is the Lord of the Great Throne. (Sahih)

Dua:8

This prayer reminds us that we are weak and our success is only by the grace of Allah, who removes all our difficulties and makes our lives better.

إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ، اللَّهُمَّ أْجُرْني فِي مُصِيبَتِي، وَأَخْلِفْ لِي خَيْراً مِنْهَا

We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return. O Allah, take me out of my present condition and bring me after it something better than it.

Dua:9

Allah Almighty does not need anyone’s help to run the universe. He is the One who takes care of everything at all times and in all situations. Reciting this supplication in times of difficulty, fear, or worry gives us peace of mind, help, and protection. When a severe test came upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he used to recite this supplication.

يا حَيُّ يا قَيُّوْمُ بِرَحْمَتِكَ أَسْتَغِيْث

O Living and Eternal Sustainer! I seek refuge in You through Your mercy. (Tirmidhi)

Dua:10

اللَّه قَنِّعْنِيْ بِمَا رَزَقْتَنِيْ، وَبَارِكْ لِيْ فِيْهِ، وَاخْلُفْ عَلَى كُلِّ غَائِبَةٍ بِخَيْرٍ

O Allah, make me content with what You have given me, send blessings upon me in it, and replace for me every lost thing with something better than it. (Bukhari)
